Iowa Fuel Report: May 8, 2024

Fuel prices dipped slightly across the state in this week’s report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, May 8, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel was $3.28, down two cents from last week and two cents below prices from a year ago. The national average on Wednesday also declined by two cents to $3.64 per gallon. Iowa retail diesel prices slipped three cents to a statewide average of $3.69 per gallon, compared to $3.79 last year. The national average held just below the four-dollar mark at $3.97. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged from $2.16, while natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site rose 29 cents to $2.21 per MMBtu.
