It is less than a month before the kick-off of the 14th annual Stone Pier Summer Concert Series, with some new acts and veteran artists planning to hit the stage. The free concerts will start on June 1, hosting four shows, one per month, on the shore of Black Hawk Lake, enjoyed by those on land and by boat. Opening this year’s season is PetRock, a tribute band to 70’s rock based out of Omaha, to take the stage at 6:00 p.m. after the Lake View’s Sip & Sample event. The next concert will take place over the Independence Day weekend, featuring Lance Roark, a country and bluegrass musician from Oklahoma, hitting the stage on July 6 starting at 5:00 p.m. Following Roark will be The Steel Wheels, a folk-rock band from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, bringing songs from their latest album, “Sideways,” released in February. The August concert will be on Saturday the 3rd, presenting co-headliners and emerging country artists Matt Koziol and Brooke Lee. Lee will start the concert at 5:00 p.m., singing classic rock and country features inspired by Joan Jett, Janis Joplin, and Dolly Parton. Koziol will finish the night with his country-styled music, with his latest single featuring Vince Gill and new releases planned for later this year. The season finale will be held on Sept. 1, with Cory Waller and The Wicked Things kicking off the event at 5:00 p.m. Lead singer and songwriter Waller, along with the band, will play their music inspired by hits from John Mellencamp and Blackberry Smoke. The Band of Heathens will finish the 2024 Summer Concert Series, performing their cover of Levon Helm’s “Hurricane,” which made national television debut on CBS Saturday Morning, and a Grand Ole Opry debut in 2023, plus much more. The Lake View Community Club wants to remind everyone that the concerts are free of charge, and no tickets are required. The organization also encourages participants to purchase food and all the food vendors available each night, with a complete list on our website. The famous “Burger Boat” run by the Lake View Fire Department will also be operating and delivering food to those attending the concert on the lake. The Stone Pier Concert Series committee wants to thank all the generous sponsors who helped make this night possible.
