The Carroll County Board of Supervisors approved a bid during the meeting this (Monday) morning for audio and video equipment in the soon-to-be-completed boardroom at the Carroll County Courthouse. Part of the ongoing renovations includes overhauling the supervisors’ space. Board Chair Stephanie Hausman says the board will be transitioning back to the courthouse in less than a month, so a decision needed to be made on equipment.

IT Director Dalton Morrison collected quotes from companies specializing in this field, and the county received two responsive quotes. The first is from Vaddio for $18,158. Morrison says this is the same equipment the City of Carroll uses to broadcast their council meetings, and it should easily meet the supervisors’ needs.

The other bid was from Yealink for $12,474. While the Yealink bid is lower, Morrison says it just doesn’t have the same features and functionality as Vaddio.

Due to the City of Carroll’s success with the Vaddio systems and his experience with the equipment, Morrison recommended the supervisors go with the Vaddio quote. He adds that he will be able to manage the implementation himself, saving the county money on installation fees. The board voted 5-0 to approve the Vaddio quote for $18,158. The cameras, mics, and speakers will be mounted soon after they arrive and should be ready for the supervisors when they move back to the courthouse in June.
