The Sac City Chamber is looking to honor those who have passed and preserve community history by sponsoring a cemetery stone cleaning before Memorial Day at the end of the month. On Saturday, May 18, the chamber is looking for volunteers to join them at the Oakland Cemetery in Sac City to help clean headstones from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A D/2 Biological Solution will be provided, effectively removing stains produced from mold, mildew, and algae from biological and air pollutants. This solution is the same product used to maintain headstones in the Arlington National Cemetery and other national monuments. All supplies will be provided, but volunteers are asked to bring a bucket if able. Volunteers will meet in the lower section of the cemetery but can clean up any headstone of their choosing. Those with questions are asked to contact the Sac City Chamber at 712-662-7316. Again, Sac City Chamber stone cleaning will be on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
