Adam Schweers of Carroll is one of two candidates seeking the Republican party’s nomination for the District 5 Carroll County Board of Supervisors seat. Schweers grew up in Arcadia and moved to Carroll after high school, working at American Home Shield and doing IT on the side. He started his own IT company in 2005 and sold it to ICE Technologies in 2020, where he currently continues to work. This supervisor election is not Schweers’ first foray into politics, as he previously served on the Carroll City Council and as Carroll’s mayor.

Schweers says his ties to Carroll County run deep, both personally and professionally. He has a long history of service with the Carroll Rotary, the Carroll County Growth Partnership (CCGP), formerly the Carroll Area Development Corporation (CADC), the Carroll Young Professionals, the New Hope Board of Directors, and many others. Schweers says his biggest concern for the county in the near term is changes to its ability to grow its budget when necessary due to legislation passed at the state level last year. He says his experience in budgeting, grant applications, and tax credit work would prove valuable for the county as available dollars shrink.

Schweers says the board of supervisors cannot solve every challenge the county faces, but their role is to bring together the people and resources to address housing shortages, rising mental health concerns, or whatever else comes Carroll County’s way.
