Carroll County District 5 Supervisor GOP Primary Candidate: Mark McCrea

Mark McCrea of Carroll is one of two candidates seeking the Republican party’s nomination for the District 5 Carroll County Board of Supervisors seat. McCrea has been a lifelong Carroll County resident, graduating from Glidden-Ralston High School and living in Carroll for the last 30+ years. He has spent most of his career at Pella Corporation, working in a variety of roles, including sales, scrap analysis, maintenance, and more. Outside of work, McCrea says he has always enjoyed being involved in his community.

McCrea views the supervisor role as a full-time job. He says he had been interested in running for the board in the past but never felt he could do it justice while employed. With his planned retirement from Pella this summer, he says the timing was right to run. McCrea says he is not running on a single topic or issue; he aims to see the county operate as efficiently as possible.

McCrea adds the current board runs a tight fiscal ship. However, there is always room for improvement, and he says he would be another voice to help separate county wants from county needs. McCrea and his wife, Paula, have spent the last several months visiting over 4,500 homes in Carroll to speak with constituents and hand out campaign flyers. If elected, he says his priority will be to grasp the intricacies of county government better.

With early voting opening Wednesday for the June 4 primaries, McCrea asks Carroll County Republicans to consider him for the nomination.

McCrea is facing Adam Schweers, a businessman and former Carroll Mayor, for the Republican nomination. The winning candidate will appear on the ballot during the Nov. 5 general election.
