Motor fuel prices in Iowa slid lower over the past week, according to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, May 15, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the state was $3.24, four cents below last week’s prices and nine cents lower than in May 2023. The national average on Wednesday was down three cents to $3.61 per gallon. Iowa retail diesel prices also slid three cents to a statewide average of $3.66 per gallon, compared to $3.78 a year ago. The national average stood 28 cents above local prices at $3.94 per gallon. Wholesale ethanol held steady at $2.16. Natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site spiked 18 cents to $2.39 per MMBtu.
