Governor Kim Reynolds has ordered the flags to be lowered to half-staff on Monday in honor of Memorial Day. While this order is from sunrise to noon, she has also directed that the National League of Families POW/MIA flag be flown on the Capitol grounds for the entire day. Reynolds says “Memorial Day is our opportunity to pause and reflect on the high price of our freedom while showing our lasting gratitude and respect for the Americans who so courageously paid it. May God bless fallen heroes, their families, and all those who fight to protect our country.” Flags will be half-staffed on the State Capitol Building, and the flag displays on the Capitol Complex. Public buildings, grounds, and facilities throughout the state must follow this order. Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, and other government subdivisions are encouraged to fly flags at half-staff for the same length of time as a sign of respect.
