Several thousand customers are without power in Calhoun County following thunderstorms that rolled through the area this (Friday) morning. According to MidAmerican Energy Company, at least 2,122 outages have been reported in the area, reported primarily north of the U.S. Highway 20 corridor. Communities impacted include Twin Lakes, Rockwell City, and many rural customers. The South Central Calhoun Community School District (SCC) has canceled classes for today (Friday) due to outages at some of their attendance centers. The Calhoun County Courthouse in Rockwell City will be open using generator-provided electricity, but all other county buildings will be closed until power is restored. MidAmerican Energy is aware of the outages, and crews have already responded to restore power as quickly as possible.
