Audrey Phillips of Aspinwall

    Audrey Ann Phillips, age 87 of Aspinwall, IA, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024.
     Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manning with Fr. Jose Shinoj as Celebrant.  Music for the Mass will be Pat Heithoff and Laura Rohe.  Lectors will be Robbie and Rusty Rohe.  Gift bearers will be Christine Pottebaum, Ross Rohe, and Ryan Rohe.  Casket bearers will be Jamy Zinke, Elizabeth Timmerman, Stacie Julich, Laura Bell, Kelly Phillips, Christine Pottebaum, Ryan Rohe, Rusty Rohe, Robbie Rohe, and Ross Rohe.  Honorary casket bearers will be the spouses of Audrey’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Burial will be in the Manning City Cemetery.
     Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Manning on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 from 5 – 7 P.M. where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 7:00 P.M.  Additional visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 9:30 – 10:15 A.M. prior to the Mass.

     Audrey was born on August 13, 1936 at Portsmouth, IA.  She was the daughter of Andrew and Leone (Schwery) Leinen.  She graduated from Manning High School in 1954.  After high school, she worked at the Manning Creamery.  In 1956 she married Robert Phillips.  They made their home on the farm north of Manning where they raised their four children: Rebecca, Lisa, Lynn and Todd.  Audrey worked at the creamery office, then Carroll County Home Mutual, and Soll’s Service.  She served as the Manning Hospital Auxiliary President for 16 years.
     Audrey was famous for her chocolate chip cookies, coffee cake and peanut bars. Just ask any of her grandkids about this! She also made many loaves of all bran bread. Robert and Audrey enjoyed many trips in their motor home traveling all over the United States. Robert passed away in the year 2000 and Audrey moved to the town of Aspinwall, IA in 2000.
     A few years later, she met a new friend and traveling partner, Wesley Stoelk. They traveled to many places and enjoyed going to auctions. Audrey enjoyed her extended family, the Stoelk’s, and dearly loved all of them.
     She is survived by her children: Becky (Steve) Zinke of Corning, IA; son Lynn (Mary) Phillips of Aspinwall, and daughter Lisa (Daryl) Rohe of Manning; ten grandchildren Jamy Zinke (Jackie), Elizabeth Timmerman (Andy), Stacie Julich, Laura Bell, Kelly (Kayla) Phillips, Christine (Jay) Pottebaum, Ryan Rohe (Tiff), Rusty Rohe (Laura), Robbie Rohe (Amy) and Ross Rohe (Laura); nineteen great-grandchildren; a brother Alan (Alma) Leinen of Omaha, a sister Doris (Bob) Semback of Wisconsin; several nieces and nephews, and many good friends.
     Audrey was preceded in death by her husband Robert; a son Todd in infancy; her parents Andrew and Leone Leinen; her father and mother-in-law Harlan and Edna Phillips; a brother Dale Leinen; a sister Ethel Poeppe; a sister-in-law Doris Witt; and her longtime companion Wesley Stoelk.
