Sunflowers: Share Light & Give Hope Returns For A 4th Year At Mt. Carmel Family’s Farm

A Mt. Carmel family’s popular sunflower-themed fundraiser for the St. Anthony Regional Cancer Center will return in 2024. Now in its fourth year, the Sunflowers: Share Light & Give Hope event, hosted by the Nepple family, raised a remarkable $9,000 in its first year, $11,000 in its second, and more than $12,000 in its third. The Nepples started the fundraiser as a tribute to family members and their struggles with cancer. Mark Nepple says the sunflowers are already planted and are beginning to emerge.

In their first year, they offered fresh-cut sunflowers to supporters for a free-will donation, but Sunflowers: Share Light & Give Hope has now started offering sponsorships and selling merchandise to raise even more money. Nepple says those items are almost as popular as the sunflowers.

Those items are available through the Sunflowers: Share Light & Give Hope Facebook page, and a link to that is included with this story on our website. It typically takes about 90 days from planting for sunflowers to bloom, which would put this year’s event at the Nepple farm around the end of July or early August. Nepple says they have some new activities planned for this year.

The funds raised during Sunflowers: Share Light & Give Hope supports the St. Anthony Regional Cancer Center. They provide much-needed assistance to patients and families undergoing treatment at the facility. Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more information on the fundraiser once a firm date has been set later this summer.
