Residents of Exira will soon have an opportunity to express thoughts on different ways to improve the city through a grant process called community visioning. On Friday, June 7, at Exira City Park, the design team will be present from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to discuss ideas and display the preliminary design for new projects. City Clerk Meg Andersen says this is an excellent opportunity for residents to view the ideas for the city and give any opinions before projects are approved to begin construction.

Andersen says the City of Exira has received great responses from community members to other projects, and the city council has decided to keep investing in programs for community improvement.

Iowa’s Living Roadways Community Visioning Program provides this grant program for ten communities annually. HDR out of Omaha is the landscaping architect firm that will be there, adjusting the preliminary designs on-site on Friday to give individuals a look at the work that is completed behind the scenes. Andersen says some focus groups came together in February to discuss what residents want to add or improve to the city.
