The Guthrie Center Lions Club is celebrating a century of community involvement by continuing to do what it does best: supporting projects to strengthen the City of Guthrie Center. President of the Guthrie Center Lions Club, Joe Hanner, invites everyone out this upcoming Monday evening starting at 6:00 p.m. at the Guthrie County Fairgrounds Event Center to celebrate the organization’s accomplishments over the last 100 years.

The Little Charger Early Learning Center has been working to raise over two million dollars to build a larger facility since 2020. Work is being completed, and staff and children moved into the new building this week. Hanner says the Guthrie Center Lions Club is proud to support this new facility, raising over $22,000 of their $50,000 donation goal.

However, the fundraising efforts are not finished. By purchasing a ticket and joining in on the celebration on Monday, attendees will help the organization get closer to its desired goal. Hanner says 100 years is a long time, and they plan to acknowledge as many community projects as possible with which the Lions Club has assisted.

Those interested in purchasing a ticket to the Guthrie Center Lions Club Centennial Celebration can do so by visiting Guthrie County State Bank or Peoples Bank or by contacting any Lions member. Tickets are $25, and a list of Lions members is included below. Those wishing to donate to the fundraiser efforts directly can mail check donations to the Guthrie Center Lions Club at PO Box 8, Guthrie Center, IA 50115. Hanner and the rest of the members hope to see everyone on Monday night.
