Downtown Grants, Resurfacing On Carroll City Council’s Agenda For Monday

Street resurfacing, parking regulations, and downtown grant programs are all on the agenda for next week’s Carroll City Council meeting. Officials convene at 5:15 p.m. Monday at Carroll City Hall. City Manager Aaron Kooiker says the council will begin with an update from Carroll County Growth Partnership (CCGP) Executive Director Kimberly Tiefenthaler on the latest local economic development efforts.

Under ordinances, Kooiker says the council will need to consider changes to on-street parking on Bluff and Clark Streets near the Kuemper Catholic High School and Kuemper Cares campuses. Work is expected to begin soon on the $2 million Central Business District Street resurfacing project. Kooiker says the city received bids for that work earlier this week, and those proposals will be presented to the council on Monday.

Kooiker says the council will also consider expanding the downtown façade improvement grant program to make it more beneficial to property and business owners.

The total amount the city is investing in the program is not increasing. Instead, they are reallocating funds from a planned demonstration project that is expected to receive state grant money. Other items on Monday’s agenda include the renewal of Kooiker’s contract following his first year with the city, the Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 salary resolution, and amendments to the professional services agreement for the Merchants Park improvements. Monday’s meeting is open to the public and will also be live-streamed via the city’s YouTube channel. The agenda and links to the video are included with this story on our website.
