The IKM-Manning Community School District invites the public to join them next week for a groundbreaking ceremony for the school’s gymnasium addition at the middle/high school. The ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, at the construction site, where work on the project is already underway. Board President Luke Potthoff will provide remarks on the project alongside representatives from the project’s designers, 10Fold Architecture, and contractor, Carl A. Nelson & Company. In addition to the gymnasium, the project includes two maker space classrooms and a new commons area. The gym, when completed, will have space for 250+ fans for middle school competitions. The $8.4 million, 15,805-square-foot project is funded through Iowa’s Secure and Advanced Vision for Education (SAVE) program and the district’s physical plant and equipment levy (PPEL). Completion is anticipated before the start of the 2025-26 school year next August.
