The Bayard Church of Christ in Bayard will hold its second annual Wheels for Meals fundraiser to assist multiple communities with a youth summer meal program. Bob Rogers, lead minister for the church spearheading the program, emphasizes the direct impact of these programs on children, providing them with a nutritious meal when school is not in session, a crucial need that the community is addressing.
Rogers says this year’s summer meal program is already underway, serving community families. Today (Monday) was a pick-up day, and the volunteer program served over 1,000 meals.
The Wheels for Meals event this upcoming Saturday will raise funds to provide food for next year’s summer meal program, and Rogers says there is something planned for everyone.
Rogers says this volunteer-led program would not be possible without this event and the generous donations received. He wants to stress the difference that those attending Meals for Wheels or donating are making in the communities served.
Again, Wheels for Meals will be this Saturday in Bayard from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Those who wish to register a vehicle, sign up as a vendor, or donate can visit our website for more details.
