St. Anthony Regional Hospital and Carroll County Public Health are partnering to offer a free Summer Car Seat Safety event this weekend. Both organizations have a certified passenger safety technician (CPST) available to conduct the inspections. One of the CPSTs, Maggie Pauley, MPH, a Public Health Director for Carroll County Public Health, says an average of 46% of all car seats are incorrectly installed or misused. By utilizing this free resource, St. Anthony and Carroll County Public Health will address a concern of local community members.

Pauley says the previous car seat safety check was held last fall at New Opportunities’ Health Fair and had a great turnout and community response. With Ashleigh Wiederin, RN Outreach Coordinator for The Birth Place at St. Anthony, receiving her certification, Pauley says the two can partner to help assist more families.

Pauley emphasizes that the more individuals who become a CPST, the more families can be assisted throughout the community and beyond. She encourages anyone who is interested in serving in this role to reach out, highlighting the potential for each individual to make a significant difference in the community.
