Carroll County Growth Partnership (CCGP) Executive Director Kimberly Tiefenthaler highlighted the economic development organization’s work over the last six months in a report Monday evening to the Carroll City Council. The recap covered CCGP and the Carroll Chamber of Commerce’s activities since Jan. 1, 2024. Tiefenthaler says the two organizations are involved in all facets of the community in some form. However, she says much of her recent efforts have been dedicated to the HUB 712 initiative.

HUB 712 opened in April earlier this year. It is a center for all things small business and creates a central location for owners and entrepreneurs to access the plethora of resources that are not always easily attainable in western Iowa. Tiefenthaler says they’ve only been open a few months and are already seeing a lot of traffic at HUB 712, CCGP, and the Chamber.

CCGP’s and the Chamber’s focus is not solely on HUB 712. Tiefenthaler says they are regularly checking in with local businesses to determine what their challenges are and what, if anything, they or the city can do to alleviate them. When it comes to business creation or expansion, Tiefenthaler says lack of access to capital is the primary hindrance for many aspiring business owners.

She adds the highest interest rates seen since the dot-com bubble burst at the turn of the millennium aren’t helping to alleviate that challenge. Tiefenthaler says their recent activities are in addition to CCGP’s and the Chamber’s regular programming, such as the Court Classic and last weekend’s Color Run, the Carroll County Leadership Institute, retail promotions, Chamber coffees, After Hours, and more. Tiefenthaler says they are ready and willing to assist anyone interested in starting, growing, or passing on their business to new ownership in the area. Tiefenthaler’s full CCGP/Chamber report to the Carroll City Council is included with this story on our website.
