The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office reports a Jefferson man was arrested early this (Thursday) morning following a police pursuit that began near Dedham. According to Carroll County District Court records, 25-year-old Kyle Dean Rysavy is charged with driving while barred, an aggravated misdemeanor, eluding, a serious misdemeanor, and several traffic violations. Authorities say the pursuit began at approximately 11:59 p.m. near the Highway 141 and Olympic Avenue intersection after law enforcement attempted a routine traffic stop for speeding on a 2008 Chevrolet Impala. Rysavy did not yield to the deputy’s lights and sirens and fled westbound on Highway 141 through Manning and into Crawford County at speeds reaching up to 123 mph. While the chase was ongoing, law enforcement learned the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Jefferson. The pursuit eventually ended near Aspinwall when Rysavy attempted to push the deputy’s patrol vehicle off the road. Rysavy was taken into custody, but the stolen car and sheriff’s vehicle both sustained extensive damage in the chase. As of this (Thursday) morning, Rysavy remained in custody at the Carroll County jail, awaiting an appearance before a magistrate. Additional charges against Rysavy are pending.
