Slow-Pitch Softball Fans Keep Carroll County Tradition Going With 3rd Annual Carroll Open

carroll-open-2024

This weekend’s third annual Carroll Open will feature over 200 players and 21 teams as slow-pitch players from throughout the state compete for the title of champions. The Carroll Open, formerly the Bud Open, is a Father’s Day weekend tradition for many in Carroll County. Tournament Director Travis Aye says that tradition nearly ended several years ago, but players and fans couldn’t bear to see it go.

Aye adds team registration was in the teens when they hosted their first Carroll Open in 2022, but they’ve seen participation and interest increase ever since.

Opening ceremonies begin at 6:30 p.m. tonight (Friday) at the Carroll Slow Pitch Softball Fields with the first games getting started at 7 p.m. It will be almost continuous games through the weekend until the championship game at 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. Aye says it is a great way for families to spend some time together outdoors during the Father’s Day weekend.
