Odebolt residents will see an increase in their water and sewer rates beginning next month. The city council members approved the first reading during the April 1 meeting, with the second reading and the ordinance passing at the May 6 meeting. The water rate for properties within the city limits will increase 64 cents to $21.86 for the first 1000 gallons as part of the monthly minimum. Additional water usage will be charged at $5.14, up from the $4.99 per 1000 gallons. Sewer rates will be based on the net water bill of the premise, which is increasing from the previous rate of $17.84 to $18.38 for the first 1000 gallons of water used. All usage over the first 1000 gallons will be charged $5.20, a 12-cent increase per additional 1000 gallons, which keeps Odebolt in compliance with the SRF loans. Properties serviced outside of the city’s corporate limits will be charged 200% of city limit rates for water and must have an agreement to be served. Companies wishing to hook to a hydrant will have a surcharge for turning on the meter at $2.00 per 1000 gallons and a usage charge of four cents per gallon. Residents will see the increased rates on their July bill. Anyone with additional questions is asked to contact City Hall at 712-668-2231.
