Residents and visitors for the City of Glidden are still encouraged to take part in the one-question survey, to provide input on the types of business to potentially be added to the downtown district. City Administrator Brooke Peterson says from the $58,000 Department of Natural Resources Derelict Building Grant and the city contributing $200,000, they are looking to provide improvements to a vacant downtown building to encourage a business to see Glidden as its new home.
Peterson says she has been seeing some very large-scale business ideas, such as TJ Maxx and Kohl’s in some survey results, and while that would be nice, downtown Glidden would not be the place for the larger businesses. Another idea that has been mentioned would be a small café or bakery instead.
Peterson wants to make it clear that the survey isn’t the deciding factor, just more using this as a helping tool to support the best interests of those living and visiting Glidden.
Again, the survey is still open for those wishing to provide feedback. It is a one-question survey and the link is included below.
