Crawford County Residents Can Pick Up A Free Gun Lock From The Denison Police Department

In honor of Firearm Safety Awareness Month, the Denison Police Department is offering free gun locks for Crawford County residents for the rest of June. The department has over 100 cable locks, that prevent the firearm from firing by inserting a cable into the empty magazine well of the gun, running up into the open action and being brought back to be locked into the box with a key. This lock also keeps the gun from being loaded with a magazine, and a bullet in the chamber. The Denison Police Department is offering this as a way to promote firearm safety and to reduce or eliminate the risks of gun-related accidents. The department has also provided four rules for firearm safety: always keep the firearm pointed in a safe direction, treat all guns as if they are loaded, keep the finger off the trigger until ready to shoot, and always be aware of the intended target and beyond. Anyone with any questions regarding gun safety is asked to contact the Denison Police Department at 712-263-3195 or talk to any officer.
