Carroll County residents will gather in Graham Park tomorrow (Friday) for the 2024 Carroll County American Cancer Society (ACS) Relay for Life. Relay Coordinator Suzanne Mages says the event will begin late in the afternoon in Graham Park.
Once teams are registered and people have settled in, Mages says the opening ceremonies are slated for 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
Mages says this year’s organizers wanted to stay with the family-centric environment that has been popular in recent years, and that will continue in 2024.
The survivors’ ceremony will be held at 7:30 p.m., where those who were previously diagnosed with cancer or are currently battling the disease will be recognized. Relay for Life’s iconic luminaria lighting will take place at dusk. Historically, Carroll County has been one of the top per capita fundraising counties in the country, but those numbers have slipped in recent years. Money raised from the Relay for Life goes back to the American Cancer Society to support cancer research, advocacy, and patient support services locally and nationwide.
