Audubon City Council Appoints New Mayor For City

Audubon-Log

The Audubon City Council held a special meeting last night (Monday)  to appoint a new mayor after the previous mayor ended his term prematurely. Robert Malloy was elected major, replacing Barb Jacobsen, who decided not to run again for another term. Malloy was sworn in during the council’s Dec. 11 meeting last year but terminated his service on May 13 due to personal reasons and wished to spend more time investing in his business and family. Deputy City Clerk Jen Stezel says two candidates were interested in serving in the role for major, with Palle (Pal-a) Lansman being selected by the council for the interim position until the Nov. 5 election. During the next election, the city will have to open a ballot to allow other individuals to be elected into the governing role for Audubon. Lansman, an Audubon native who has served on the Library Board and has been a Pheasants Forever member for the past 15 years, will be sworn into office during the next city council meeting on Jul. 8.
