Just in time for the peak of baseball and softball season, the City of Glidden’s concession stand project at the youth ball field was finished this month to provide more options for food and increased service for patrons attending the games. What was once a single-serving window building with minimal food choices has expanded to add a second “room” with three additional serving windows and a sidewalk surrounding the building. City Administrator Brooke Peterson says this expansion provides extra space for refrigerated storage and a larger area for prep work, which will be utilized to provide new food choices.

It’s important to note that this project was made possible through the collective efforts of local businesses and community. Subbert Construction, a Glidden-based contractor, was behind constructing the concession stand’s expansion. The project was also fully funded by the proceeds from the Glidden Community Auction, a testament to the community’s commitment to supporting local initiatives. Peterson emphasizes that this annual fundraiser, hosted by the Haggai Masonic Lodge #369, continues to be a driving force behind community projects in Glidden.

Peterson wants to thank everyone who continues to support the Glidden Community Auction, which assists with projects to improve the city. She says the next fundraising event will contribute to the purchase of AEDs for the town’s gyms.
