Roger Allen Struble, the son of Kenneth and Joyce (Slaven) Struble, was born on January 10, 1952, in Exira, Iowa. He passed away on June 25, 2024, at the age of 72.
He grew up on a farm outside of Exira. He enjoyed helping out on the farm and playing checkers and cards with his family. Holidays with family were important to him, his favorite being the 4th of July and Christmas. He and his Grandpa Slaven raised pigs together. He also helped his dad in the feed store.
Roger attended Exira Community School and Hamlin School and graduated from Audubon Community School in 1972. During his high school years there, he worked part-time at a burger shop.
In 1977, he moved to New Hope Village in Carroll, Iowa, and worked many different jobs there. He loved all the activities at New Hope Village, including the dances and the Elvis Presley impersonator. Roger liked doing yard work, mowing, and caring for a garden. He also enjoyed riding horses. He also enjoyed the Special Olympics, where he participated in swimming, track, and bowling. He loved watching old Westerns and listening to Western music.
Preceding him in death was his father, Kenneth Struble, and Grandparents, John and Mabel Slaven, Earl and Lucille Struble.
Survivors include his mother, Joyce Struble of Exira, Iowa; His brother, Robert, and his wife, Carol Struble of Ames, Iowa, his sister, Sharon and husband, Pete Eivins of Ankeny, Iowa.
Nieces and nephews: Stephanie and husband Paul Beckett of Clive, Iowa, Steve and wife Amy Struble of Clinton, Iowa, Wade Eivins and Heather Anderson of Ankeny, Iowa, Crystal and husband Eric Sadler of Nevada, Iowa, Blair Struble of Marshalltown, Iowa, Alissa and husband Cole Qualheim of Euless, Texas; Great nieces and nephews, Sarah and husband Matthew Daisy of Ankeny, Iowa, Kate and Abby Struble of Clinton, Iowa, Mason and Caden Eivins of Ankeny, Iowa, Lily and Ginger Sadler of Nevada, Iowa, Cora and Jaq Qualheim of Euless, Texas.

The memorial service will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home of Exira, IA, with Pastor Heather Santi-Brown officiating the service. Interment will be held following the memorial service at the Exira Cemetery. A luncheon will be held following the committal at the Exira Event Center.
Visitation with the family will be held one hour before the memorial service on Friday at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home of Exira.
Memorials may be directed to New Hope Village in memory of Roger, and mailed to the Schmidt Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 201, Audubon, IA.
