According to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa, Iowans saw a slight increase in motor fuel prices heading into the Independence Day holiday. As of Wednesday, the average price in the state for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $3.32, up one cent from last week but down two cents from a year ago. The national average on Wednesday rose two cents to $3.51 per gallon. In retail diesel, Iowa prices jumped eight cents per gallon to $3.59, even with prices in 2023. Local prices remain 25 cents below the $3.84 national average. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged from $2.16. As for heating fuels, natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site dipped 33 cents to $2.43 per MMBtu.
