The 2024 fair season gets underway this week as the Calhoun County Expo kicks off its festivities. The Expo officially gets underway at 5 p.m. tomorrow (Tuesday) evening with the opening of the beer garden at the fairgrounds in Rockwell City, followed by the parade at 6 p.m. and the Little Miss/Mister Calhoun County and Miss Calhoun County pageants starting at 7 p.m. Fair Board President Ricole Potts says they have an outstanding lineup of entertainment all the way through the weekend.

Each day has its own highlights, such as the Bill Riley Talent Show and Barrel Racing on Wednesday, the Youth Rodeo on Thursday, the Truck Pull on Friday, fireworks and live music on Saturday, and Family Fun Day on Sunday. It wouldn’t be a county fair in Iowa without the many animal shows and exhibits, which Potts says they have plenty of every day at the Expo.

Potts adds any day this week is a good day to visit the Calhoun County Expo, and she is anticipating good crowds after last year’s numbers.
