The American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) has selected the administrator of Exira Care Center in Exira as a future leader in long-term and post-acute care. Brianne Fister has been serving as the administrator for the nursing home facility for ten years, overseeing the many health services offered, including skilled care, long-term, assisted living, dementia, residential care, and community-based service. Fister continues this passion outside of her job by serving on the Iowa Center for Assisted Living Board of Directors and as co-chair for the Iowa Health Care Association’s (IHCA) Education and Competency Advisory Council. Fister says, “I am honored to be selected for AHCA/NCAL’s Future Leaders program. This opportunity will allow me to enhance my knowledge and leadership skills to help promote the profession’s mission of providing the highest quality, resident-centered care.” The Future Leaders program was developed in 2004, selecting participants who demonstrated leadership potential and represented state and national long-term care interests. This year-long program covers the latest theories and practical applications in quality management, customer satisfaction, and leadership. IHCA president and CEO Brent Willett says, “We are delighted Brianne has been selected to join this prestigious national leadership program. We deeply appreciate her long-standing leadership in IHCA and her commitment to advocating for the interests of long-term care providers both at the state and national levels.” Fister will attend the September three-day symposium training in Washington, D.C., to kick off the year-long training initiative.
