Sac County Sherriff’s Deputy Pulls Man From Rural Odebolt House Fire; State Fire Marshal’s Office Investigating Fire’s Cause

Authorities in Sac County released details today (Tuesday) from a house fire in Odebolt last week that left a man with severe burns. According to the Sac County Sheriff’s Office, dispatch was notified at approximately 9:10 a.m. by a 60-year-old male resident at 1651 370th Street, owned by Bradley Buller, reporting the house was on fire and that he was still inside the structure. A Sac County Sheriff’s deputy was the first to arrive on the scene and noticed a foot sticking out of a sliding door on the south side of the home. The deputy assisted the male in getting up and out of the burning house before the Odebolt Fire Department arrived at the scene. Sac County Emergency Medical Services medically stabilized the burn victim before he was transported to a landing site established on nearby Highway 39 to be airlifted for treatment by a MercyOne air ambulance. Damage to the home was extensive, and the Odebolt, Wall Lake, Lake View, and Kiron Fire Departments assisted in extinguishing the blaze. The Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office has been called in to assist in determining the cause of the fire.
