Farmers, Landowners Invited To July 24 Seminar On Soil Conservation Practices

Farmers and landowners from the area are encouraged to register for an upcoming seminar in Wall Lake focused on soil health and what Iowans can do to protect and restore one of Iowa’s most important assets. The free program is scheduled for Wednesday, July 24, at the Wall Lake Shelter House. Black Hawk Lake Watershed Coordinator Ethan Thies says the seminar features Brian Dougherty from Understanding Ag.

Thies says the program is designed to be engaging for most farmers and landowners, regardless of if they are experienced in conservation practices or just starting to implement them in their own operations.

Thies adds attendees will also be treated to lunch and refreshments following the presentation. There is no cost to attend, but Thies asks interested farmers to RSVP by noon tomorrow (Wednesday).

Again, the number to RSVP is 712-662-7773, option 3. People can also email sacswcd@gmail.com to register. Thies says they certainly won’t turn anybody away, but they want to ensure they have enough food on hand for those who attend.
