The 78th Annual Crawford County Fair kicks off tomorrow (Wednesday) through Monday, with six days of shows, entertainment, and more for all ages. Fair Board member Jan Henningsen says she has been serving on the fair board for years and always enjoys seeing all the hard work the fair board has done over the last year come to reality. Henningsen says she especially enjoys watching all the 4H and FFA members’ animal shows, with many entries this year.
The events kick off this Wednesday evening, following the flag-raising ceremony at noon and the Veterans lunch. The horse show is at 1:00 p.m., followed by the livestock judging contest at 1:30 p.m., with the Bill Riley Talent show wrapping up that first day at 6:00 p.m. in the grandstands. Henningsen says Thursday is Senior Citizen Day, and there is plenty of entertainment to be found.
Other crowd-favorite events include the races in the grandstand on Friday at 7:30 p.m., the Little Cutie Contest at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, with mutton bustin’ at 6:30 p.m. that night. Sunday finishes with the last of the animal shows, and the Wright Rodeo at 6:00 p.m. Henningsen says while admission into the fair is free, there is a small cost for some of the entertainment, like the races, at the fair.
Henningsen says it’s a special year for her, as this will be the last year she works “full time” for the Crawford County Fair.
Henningsen wants to thank the board members, sponsors, and volunteers who helped make this event successful year after year. She hopes everyone can attend and enjoy the 78th Annual Crawford County Fair. Again, all fair events start tomorrow (Wednesday) and last through Monday in Denison at the Crawford County Fairgrounds.
