Thousands of individuals and families will travel to Lake View this weekend to celebrate the 71st Annual Black Hawk Lake Summer Water Carnival, with events kicking off this Friday evening. This year’s theme, Luau at the Lake, is attempting to bring some of the experiences of Hawaii to Black Hawk Lake. Ally Leners, Water Carnival Committee President, says the midway will have plenty of entertainment for all attendees.

Friday evening will also feature the kiddie parade starting at 7:00 p.m., a new activity, kids’ readers theatre, followed by live entertainment by Down To Here in the beer garden and fireworks at 10:00 p.m. to finish out the night. Leners says Saturday is the busiest day of the weekend.

Saturday afternoon begins with the Street Parade, featuring Grand Marshal Darrell and Gail Eischeid, followed by a bag tournament, pedal tractor pull, and cardboard boat races that Leners says always draw a huge crowd.

Saturday night ends with live entertainment from Glen Everhart, A Luau performance group out of Chicago, and Finding Dixie, with the Parade of Water Floats starting at 9:30 p.m. Sunday is the last day of the celebration with the Ecumenical church service, mud volleyball, Little Miss Black Hawk Pageant, and the Bill Riley Talent Show. Leners says this is all possible with some of the best individuals and businesses.

Again, the 71st Black Hawk Lake Summer Water Carnival, Luau at the Lake begins this Friday and lasts through Sunday in Lake View. A link to the Facebook page with more information and to view the full line up of events is included below.
