Movement in the fuel market was muted in this week’s report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, July 17, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $3.28, unchanged from last week’s price and five cents below a year ago. The national average on Wednesday was down three cents on the week to $3.51 per gallon. In retail diesel, Iowa prices dipped three cents to $3.55 per gallon, compared to $3.58 per gallon in July 2023. The national average for diesel remains well above local prices at $3.85 per gallon. As for heating fuels, natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site dropped 21 cents to $2.06 per MMBtu.
