MRHC Contributed Nearly $30 Million To Iowa’s Economy In 2023

In the latest study by the Iowa Hospital Association (IHA), Manning Regional Healthcare Center (MRHC) contributed nearly $30 million to the state’s economy in 2023. MRHC, named a Top 20 Critical Access Hospital in 2024, cares for patients in many ways, including family practice, specialty care, therapies, senior life, and recovery. Community benefits are not included in the survey, representing community education events, various other foundations support, and charity care for individuals who would otherwise be unable to pay for necessary healthcare services. All hospitals in Carroll County have contributed $7.7 million in community benefits and serving 20.9 thousand individuals. Of the $29.9 million MRHC added to the state’s economy, 23 percent was employee compensation. MRHC supports 8.3 percent of the total employment in Carroll County, having 140 job opportunities, which generated $7.7 million as payroll and benefits in 2023. Iowa hospitals are crucial to the state’s economy, generating $21.3 billion, making up 10.8 percent of the state’s gross domestic product. Hospitals across Iowa support over 137,000 jobs, 8.8 percent of the employment across the state, with $9 billion contributed to wages and benefits.
