The Lake View City Council will host a special meeting this (Friday) afternoon for the appointment of a new head for the Lake View Police Department (LVPD). The council convenes at 12:30 p.m. at the Lake View Municipal Building to consider a resolution to appoint George Athan, a current LVPD officer, as the new police chief. Athan will be sworn in following the council’s approval of the resolution. Athan’s previous law enforcement experience includes time with the Dunlap Police Department and the Sac County Sheriff’s Office. The only other items on the agenda for Friday’s special session include a discussion of a “Party in the Park” event slated for Aug. 2 and a routine liquor license approval.
