20-Mile Detour For M66/150th Street Intersection Improvement Project Begins Tuesday

A nearly 20-mile detour will go into effect tomorrow (Tuesday) for motorists in southwestern Carroll County and northwestern Audubon County for planned intersection improvement work. Beginning at noon on July 23, the intersection of County Road M66, also known as Bluebird Avenue, and 100th Street will be closed to through traffic for approximately six weeks while crews broaden the three-way junction. Vehicle traffic will be diverted using a detour route that includes Iowa Highway 141 from Manning east to U.S. Highway 71, then south to County Road F24, also known as 150th Street. Local traffic affected by the closure will still have access to their properties, but all other vehicles are asked to use the marked detour for the project’s duration. A planned reshouldering on M66 that is set to begin later this year in Carroll County will likely use a similar detour once that begins. Individuals with questions can contact the Audubon County Road Department using the contact points included below.
