Velma Riesselman of Carroll

Velma (Blondie) Angeline Riesselman, 91 of Carroll passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at St. Anthony nursing home in Carroll surrounded by her family.

A private family Funeral Service will be held at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

Velma was born on April 21, 1933 in Carroll, Iowa to Hugo & Katherine (Renze) Werner. Velma grew up in Carroll and attended St. Joseph grade school and graduated from St. Angela Academy in Carroll.

Velma was united in marriage to Alfred (Fritz) Riesselman on September 25th,1951 at St. Joseph church in Carroll. Velma and Alfred made their home on the Riesselman family farm near Halbur until 2005 when they moved to Carroll. Velma enjoyed going to sales with Alfred and baking cookies for the grandkids.

Velma is survived by her husband of 72 years Alfred of Carroll, children Vicki (Ken) Behrens of Templeton, Bob (Jodi) Riesselman of Longville, MN, Shari (Dan) Beyer of Carroll, son-in-law Rick Anthofer of Breda and Joe (Jennifer) Riesselman of Halbur, 13 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren with 2 on the way.

Preceded in death by her parents, Hugo and Katherine, sister Addie (Bert) Buelt, brother Ray (Marie) Werner, daughter Lori Anthofer, parents-in-law Joe & Celia Riesselman, brothers & sister in-laws, Joe Jr. (Catherine & Helen) Riesselman, Sofia (Martin) Sailer and Lila (Frank) Handlos.
