2024-all-state-barn-tour

Four barns in the listening area are being featured in the Iowa Barn Foundation’s 2024 All-State Tour scheduled for the end of this summer. The self-guided tours are scheduled on Sept. 14 and 15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with more than 90 barns on the route. Chosen barns have either received a restoration grant from the Iowa Barn Foundation or have received the foundation’s Award of Distinction or Preservation Award. The self-guided fall tour is free and open to the public. An online tour guide is available at iowabarnfoundation.org/barn-tours. The Iowa Barn Foundation, a volunteer-led non-profit, aims to maximize member donations to provide restoration grants for the state’s historic barns. Since its founding in 1997, the foundation has awarded $2.3 million in grants, helping to save nearly 300 barns. Featured barns this year included the Clancy Barn near Pomeroy (est. 1948), the Sextro Crib near Manning (est. early 1900s), the Nicholson Barn near Scranton (est. early 1900s), and the Richards Barn near Jamaica (est. 1930s).
