With Less Than A Month Until School, New IKM-Manning Superintendent Excited To Be Serving The District

With the many projects scheduled for the IKM-Manning School District this summer, the new superintendent, Dr. Angela Huseman, has been busy ensuring everything is ready for the 2024-25 school year. Huseman was selected earlier this year as a shared superintendent between the IKM-Manning and Tri-Center School Districts, replacing former Superintendent Trevor Miller, who will now oversee the Exira-EHK and Audubon Community School District. Huesman, a Carroll native who graduated from Carroll High School in 1985, wasn’t thinking of pursuing a degree in education, but looking back, she realized it was her calling.

Upon graduating from Iowa State, Huseman taught English and coached in Waukee, Humbolt, and Ballard before receiving her master’s degree and accepting the high school principal position at Tri-Center in Neola. Huseman has served as the district superintendent for the last seven to eight years. Looking back on her 27 years at Tri-Center CSD, she notes multiple achievements from her and the staff, including starting a before-and-after daycare, a three-year-old preschool program and establishing the requirement of four years of high school math. Her most notable achievement is one she hopes will continue for years.

Huseman took over all the superintendent’s responsibilities for the IKM-Manning district on July 1. With almost a full month of work completed in the district, Huseman says she is looking forward to the first day of school, meeting the students, and seeing what comes her way.

The IKM-Manning District’s open house is on Aug. 21, and the first day of school is on Aug. 23.
