iowa-DNR-Website-Template

Roughly 1,600 acres of land along the Missouri River in Woodbury County is being transferred from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska following President Biden’s signing of the Winnebago Land Transfer Act. The Act, passed unanimously by the U.S. Congress, ensures that the land, known as Winnebago Bend Wildlife Area, and most of the waterfowl refuge at Snyder Bend Wildlife Area, will become part of the Winnebago Reservation. The transferred land will be marked with signs indicating that Winnebago Bend and the designated portion of Snyder Bend are no longer open for public use. Since 1981, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has managed the land for public hunting and recreation.
