Lake City Annual Clean-Up Days Is This Weekend

Lake City residents will be able to participate in the upcoming city-wide clean-up days this weekend, helping to clear out unwanted items that cannot go in the regular garbage. On Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., city officials and crews will be at 120 W. Washington St., outside of the city’s water plant, to help community members dispose of items to ensure Lake City remains a beautiful and safe place to live. City Administrator Jacob Matthews says this event is usually offered once per year to give individuals an option to get rid of unused items properly.

While the city-wide clean-up days are free for Lake City residents,  donations are crucial in sustaining this event. They help cover the costs associated with hauling items and landfill fees, ensuring that we can continue to offer this service. City Administrator Jacob Matthews notes that residents may be charged, depending on what is brought for disposal.

Matthews says some items will not be accepted for the safety of the volunteers and landfill regulations.

Anyone interested in helping city crews and officials during this time can contact City Hall at 712-640-6401 to be placed on the schedule. Again, the Lake City Clean-Up Day will be held this upcoming Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. outside of the city’s water plant.
