Ronald “Buck” Buchman, age 78, of Carroll, IA, and formerly of Coon Rapids, IA, passed away on July 25, 2024, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll following a short illness.
A public visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5 – 7 P.M. on Sunday, July 28, 2024.
A private funeral service will be held at Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll at on Monday, July 29, 2024 with the Rev. Kevin D. Evers officiating. Casket bearers will be Delbert Buchman Jr., Terry Buchman, Todd Thorn, Jim Thorn, Jeremy Thorn, and Danny Thorn. Interment will take place at Merle Hay Cemetery in Glidden.

Ronald Dean Buchman was born on July 13, 1946, in Excelsior Township near Lake Park, lA. He was the son of James and Christina (Zordgrager) Buchman. Ronald grew up and attended grade school at Excelsior Consolidated School and graduated high school at Lake Park in 1964. Ronald was a 4-H member and enjoyed many activities in 4-H but really loved caring for sheep.
Ronald was united in marriage to Diane Thorn on June 13, 1969 in Glidden, IA. He worked for many years at the Farmers Coop in Glidden. Ronald and Diane enjoyed living on their acreage near Coon Rapids where they raised a vegetable garden and cared for their many animals including dogs, cats, sheep, horses and pigs. They enjoyed daily drives around the area and many trips to Branson, MO.
Ron is survived by his wife Diane Buchman of 55 years of Carroll; two sisters: Doris Alfke of Auburn, CA, and Mary Lou Thoemlitz of Oakdale, MN; a brother Delbert (Gloria) Buchman of Spirit Lake, IA, a brother-in-law Jim (Ginger) Thorn of Manning, IA, and many nieces and nephews.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother Donald, a sister Wilma Lohn, a niece Kristen K Pauling, and several brothers-in-law including Burdell Alfke, Roger Beam, Bruce Lohn, Lyle Pauling, and Nick Thorn; a sister-in-law Charlotte Thorn; his mother and father-in-law June and Howard Thorn, a nephew David Thorn, and a great-niece Shannesy Rebhuhn.
