The Carroll Fire Department was dispatched early this (Tuesday) morning after the storms that pushed through the area ignited a tree near New Hope’s campus. According to Fire Chief Dan Hannasch, firefighters were dispatched to the 1200 block of E. 18th Street at approximately 4:23 a.m. for a large tree that caught fire due to a lightning strike. Crews quickly extinguished the blaze and were back at the station by 5:16 a.m. A second round of storms around 8 a.m. Tuesday morning reignited some of the remnants thanks to the accompanying high winds.
