City officials of Lake City wish to remind residents not to leave trash just placed on the curb for pick up, as trash must be placed in an appropriate bin per city ordinance. During the last city council meeting, Daisy Hauling, who operates the city’s garbage collection services, estimated that nearly 50 percent of Lake City residents do not use a trashcan and just place the bags wishing to be disposed of on the curb. City Administrator Jacob Matthews says the municipal code was created to help keep the Lake City community beautiful, safe, and inviting for all by ensuring waste was adequately secured during trash pick-up days.
Along with the bin requirements, Matthews says that all items wishing to be disposed of must fit within the appropriate garbage container and under the maximum weight limit.

Matthews hopes that by educating Lake City residents about the city ordinance, the issue will be resolved, and the community will continue to remain a welcoming and beautiful place to all who live and visit there.
