Union Pacific crews are looking to have tracks cleared and fixed so trains can back up and run on the main line this (Tuesday) evening after a train derailment caused a stop of operations. The incident occurred Monday evening around 5:00 p.m. between Glidden and Ralston, causing approximately three dozen train cars piled up and off the tracks. A Union Pacific spokesperson says the cause of the incident is still under investigation. Crews have been working around the clock to clear and fix the portion of the track that received damage and are expected to continue operations later this (Tuesday) evening. While all railroad crossings have been opened back up for travel, individuals are still advised to stay clear of the area to continue allowing crews to complete any cleanup and maintenance necessary to open the railroad back up for train traffic.
