For the past 74 years, the Audubon T-Bone group has celebrated its annual Operation T-Bone Days as the town’s way to recognize and promote the beef industry. Every year, except for 2020, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the first weekend in August is dedicated to acknowledging Audubon’s impact in providing beef for consumers across Iowa and the United States. Tiffany Wittrock, Executive Director for Audubon Chamber of Commerce, says the City of Audubon played a crucial role in the transportation of cattle, giving the community a reason to celebrate.

Aside from the milestone of over seven decades of fun and continuing to grow every year, Wittrock says there is also a birthday to be celebrated.

The picnic and birthday cake celebration kick off the town’s events at Albert the Bull Park from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday night. Later that evening, the T-Bone special figure eight races will take place, with fireworks to follow. Wittrock says Saturday has a full line-up of events, with something for everyone.

Throughout Saturday, the John James Audubon City Park will have inflatables and kids’ games. The Operation T-Bone Parade will begin at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, with live entertainment from the White Pole Road Band in the beer garden Saturday night. Wittrock says the Audubon Fire Department finishes out the weekend’s events on Sunday.

Again, that’s the 74th Operation T-Bone Days, and Albert the Bull is turning 60 this weekend in Audubon. The complete list of activities has been included below.
