The Carroll Public Library is celebrating the end of another successful year for the Summer Reading Program with the End of Summer Reading Party. Library Director Wendy Johnson says over 500 participants have signed up for the program this year, and over 200 have completed it. Today (Friday) is the last day to get books logged in before the celebration tomorrow (Saturday). Johnson says she is excited to honor all the reading the kids have done and celebrate the success of the check-out challenge, having 24,000 items checked out over the summer.

Johnson says 12 representatives from different organizations will get a little messy with the whipped cream pies.

Johnson says there will be goodie bags and a chance to win prizes for the participants who completed the summer reading program.

The Summer Reading Program started on June 3, with activities scheduled throughout the week. Carroll County Conservation discussed endangered animals and conservation practices while the library held crafts and movie days. The bigger shows featuring a magician, the Science Center of Iowa (SCI), and even a circus were held at the Carroll REC Center. Johnson says those events were only possible with that partnership.
