Wanda Mae Erps, age 92, of Arcadia, IA, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at Accura Healthcare in Carroll, IA.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia with Pastor Jonathan Conner and Pastor Ryan Roehrig officiating. Music will be by Tammi Brunner. Casket bearers will be Corey Erps, Damien Erps, Dustin McCarter, Drew Billings, Doug Schuette, and Ross Schuette. Burial will be in the Arcadia Cemetery in Arcadia.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 – 10:45 A.M. on Thursday, August 8th at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia.
Wanda was born July 28, 1932 at her parents’ home in Arcadia, IA, and she was the daughter of Ray and Christina (Brandt) Wiebers. She attended Arcadia Community Schools graduating for the Arcadia High School with the Class of 1949. She was employed at Gambles Department Store in Carroll as a bookkeeper for several years. On October 12, 1952 she was united in marriage to Robert Richard Erps at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia. Wanda was a homemaker raising their children until they grew older. In the early 70’s, Wanda and Robert opened Bob’s Electric and Service where she was the bookkeeper and helped operate the business until she retired in 2008. Wanda was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia and served on the ladies aide for several years. Wanda enjoyed crocheting, quilting, crossword puzzles, and loved to read. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, Kansas City Chiefs, and the Green Bay Packers. In her spare time, you could often find her watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
Wanda is survived by her two sons: Gary (Mary) Erps of Arcadia, IA, Glenn (Donna) Erps of Carroll, IA; seven grandchildren: Chris Hernandez, Mindy Campbell, Mary Beth Erps (Drew Billings), Kelly Pottebaum, Damien (Emily) Erps, Andrea (Dustin) McCarter, and Corey (Heather) Erps; eight great-grandchildren; brother Gordon Wiebers of Denison, IA; sisters-in-law: Ruth Buddenhagen and Katherine Erps both of Ankeny, IA; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Wanda is preceded in death by her husband Robert Erps; son, Richard Erps; two children in infancy, Kathy and Gerard; her parents; her in-laws, Edward and Ellen Erps; brother, Merlin (Margaret) Wiebers; and sister-in-law, Marlene Wiebers.
